The latest Wounds UK Journal published a case study on the use of L-Mesitran in lower limb lymphoedema and recalcitrant wounds.

Investigators from two different Community Health Centers in Portugal successfully used L-Mesitran to heal recalcitrant ulcers in lymphoedematous lower limbs. The patient was a 45 year old female who also suffered from obesity (BMI=53).

The lesions were present for 8-14 years (!) in which period iodine, antibiotics and other products were used to try to heal the malodorous wounds (they could be smelled throughout the patients home).

In November 2009 swabs showed a Gram negative infection (Proteus mirabilis). The patient was hospitalized and treatment with L-Mesitran Ointment from the onset quickly debrided the infected legs without the use of antibiotics. The wounds healed completely in approximately 3½ months. At the six-month follow-up, the patient remained free of ulcerations.

La última publicación de la revista Wounds UK Journal presentó un estudio de caso sobre el uso de L-Mesitran en linfedema y heridas recalcitrantes de miembros inferiores.

Investigadores de dos diferentes Centros de Salud en Portugal utilizaron con éxito el producto L-Mesitran para tratar úlceras en miembros inferiores con linfedema. La paciente de 45 años, también padecía de obesidad (IMC=53).

Las lesiones permanecieron por 8-14 años (!), periodo durante el cual yodo, antibióticos y otros productos fueron utilizados para intentar cicatrizar las heridas que presentaban mal olor (este se podía percibir por toda la casa de la paciente).

En Noviembre de 2009, un frotis reveló una infección por organismos Gram negativos (Proteus mirabilis). La paciente fue hospitalizada y el tratamiento con L-Mesitran Ointment desde el inicio desbridó de manera rápida las piernas infectadas sin necesidad del uso de antibióticos. Las heridas cicatrizaron completamente en aproximadamente 3½ meses. Al sexto mes de seguimiento, la paciente permaneció libre de ulceraciones.
